The Wyze Cam Pan v4 is a 4K pan-and-tilt camera that costs about $50 to $60. It works indoors or outdoors, has a spotlight and a siren, and records to a microSD card with no monthly fee.

That last part is why it’s on this site. But Wyze also sells a subscription, so here’s what you get for free and what sits behind the paywall.

Spec Wyze Cam Pan v4
Resolution 4K (3840 x 2160)
Pan / tilt 360° horizontal, 180° vertical
Field of view 105°
Night vision Infrared, plus color night vision with spotlight
Spotlight and siren 60-lumen spotlight, 100dB siren
Weatherproofing IP65, indoor or outdoor
Power Plug-in, 6 ft USB-C cable
Local storage microSD (card sold separately)
Typical price Roughly $50 to $60

What You Get With No Subscription

Out of the box, with no plan, you get live view, motion alerts, two-way audio, the spotlight and siren, and recording to a microSD card. Wyze says the camera supports cards up to 512GB.

The card isn’t included, so budget a few extra dollars for one. Footage stays on the camera, not in someone else’s cloud. Our local vs. cloud storage guide explains why that matters.

For a pan-tilt camera, that’s a strong free tier. Most competitors at this price push you toward a plan much sooner.

What Wyze Cam Plus Adds

The smart features are the paid part. Wyze Cam Plus costs about $3 a month per camera. It adds cloud video history, plus person, pet, package, and vehicle alerts.

Without it, you still get basic motion detection. You just get more false alerts from shadows, bugs, and passing cars.

If you only want a camera that records to a card and pings you when something moves, you can skip the plan. If you want “a person is at the door” instead of “something moved,” that’s where the monthly fee comes in.

Tracking, Video, and Night Vision

The pan and tilt cover nearly the whole room or yard, and the camera can follow movement automatically. The 4K picture is sharp for the price.

The field of view is a bit narrow at 105°, so a wide yard may need more than one camera. Color night vision works with the spotlight, but reviewers found the spotlight weak for big areas and the footage a bit blurry while tracking motion.

Some testers also saw recording start late or miss small subjects. Treat it as a very good budget camera, not a replacement for a wired system.

Where It Falls Short

The power cable is fixed to the camera, so a clean outdoor install takes some planning. It’s plug-in only, so you need an outlet nearby.

There’s no Apple Home support, and the two-way audio can cut out. If you already use other Wyze gear, our Wyze ecosystem guide shows how the pieces fit together.

Pros Cons
4K video with 360° pan and 180° tilt at a low price Smart alerts and cloud history need Cam Plus (about $3/month)
Free microSD recording, no plan needed Plug-in only, with a fixed power cable
IP65 weatherproofing, spotlight, and 100dB siren Narrow 105° view, and a weak spotlight for large areas

Best for: Anyone who wants a cheap, good-looking pan-tilt camera and is happy recording to a microSD card.

Wyze Cam Pan v4

This is the one to buy if you want a single camera that covers a whole room, porch, or garage by moving instead of by adding more cameras. The 4K sensor, motion tracking, and built-in siren are well beyond what you’d expect at this price.

The trade-off is that it needs power and a card. Add a microSD and an outlet, and it’s ready to record with no subscription.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the Wyze Cam Pan v4 need a subscription?
No. Live view, motion alerts, and microSD recording all work for free. Wyze Cam Plus is optional and adds smart alerts and cloud history.

Can I use it outdoors?
Yes. It’s rated IP65, which covers rain and dust. It still needs a power outlet within reach of the 6-foot cable, ideally under cover.

What microSD card do I need?
Wyze lists support for cards up to 512GB. The card isn’t included, so buy a high-endurance card made for continuous recording.

Does it have color night vision?
Yes, using its built-in spotlight, plus standard infrared night vision. The spotlight is fairly modest, so it works best for small to medium areas.

Does it work with Alexa and Google Assistant?
Wyze cameras generally support Alexa and Google Assistant, but check Wyze’s current compatibility list for this model. Apple Home isn’t supported, so look elsewhere if that’s a must.

Final Verdict

The Wyze Cam Pan v4 is one of the best-value pan-tilt cameras you can buy without signing up for anything. Add a microSD card, skip Cam Plus unless you want smart alerts, and it does a lot for about $50.
