The AOSU 3K 5MP Solar Security Camera is a wireless outdoor camera that pans and tilts, tracks movement and carries its own solar panel. It records to a microSD card, and listings describe local storage with no monthly fee.

The catch is that the card isn’t included, and AOSU’s cloud plans are priced per camera. We also found no independent hands-on review of this exact model, so the specs below come from retailer listings and one review of a sibling AOSU camera.

Feature AOSU 3K 5MP Solar PTZ Camera
Video 3K (5MP), 6x digital zoom
Pan and tilt 360° panoramic, auto tracking
Night vision Color to about 33 feet, 400-lumen spotlight
Power 9,200mAh battery with solar panel
Local storage microSD (card not included)
Wi-Fi 2.4GHz only, Bluetooth for setup
Weather rating IP65
Works with Alexa and Google Assistant

What Works With No Subscription

Several listings say storage on a microSD card is free, and Newegg’s page calls it free local storage. Live view, two-way talk, motion alerts and the spotlight don’t depend on a plan in those listings.

Cloud storage is the paid option. SafeWise tested AOSU’s SolarCam T2 Pro, a sibling model, and found Basic at $3.99 a month or $39.99 a year for one camera with 14 days of history. Pro was $6.49 a month or $62.99 a year for up to five cameras with 30 days.

Those prices may differ for this camera, so check AOSU’s site. For the trade-off, see local storage vs cloud storage.

The AI Detection Catch

The listings promise people, vehicle and pet detection, plus fence and wall intrusion alerts. Whether all of it works from a microSD card alone is the open question.

SafeWise found on the T2 Pro that vehicle and pet detection needed the Pro plan, and generally didn’t work with local storage. We couldn’t confirm the same for this model, so assume basic person alerts are free and read the listing for the rest.

Battery and Solar

Newegg’s listing gives a 9,200mAh battery. The listings say about three hours of direct sun powers the camera for a day, but that is a manufacturer claim and they don’t give a panel wattage.

A shaded wall will starve it, so choose a sunny spot. SafeWise says the T2 Pro’s panel can mount on the camera or connect by an extension cable, and the mounting plate lets you detach the unit quickly.

Storage and Wi-Fi

The microSD card isn’t in the box, per Wellbots and DataVision. We couldn’t find a maximum card size for this model.

On the T2 Pro, SafeWise supported cards up to 256GB and suggested 64GB or 128GB at minimum. A pan-and-tilt camera records a lot, so budget for a large card.

Wi-Fi is 2.4GHz only, and setup uses Bluetooth. Check that your router reaches the mounting spot before you drill.

Night Vision and Tracking

The listings promise full-color night vision to about 33 feet, helped by a 400-lumen spotlight. The light can come on by motion or by hand.

SafeWise found that color video on the T2 Pro needed plenty of ambient light, and infrared gave more detail in the dark. That’s a sibling model, but expect a similar trade-off.

Auto tracking follows detected motion. SafeWise called the T2 Pro’s tracking fairly good, with some blur on moving subjects.

AOSU 3K/5MP Solar Security Camera, Wireless Outdoor, PTZ 360°

On paper this is a lot of camera for the money. Slickdeals listed it on Amazon at $139.97 in August 2026, down from $200, and it combines 3K video, pan and tilt, a spotlight and solar charging.

The listing’s box contents include the camera, solar panel, bracket, a universal joint and a USB-C cable, per Wellbots. It weighs about 2.6 pounds, and Wellbots lists it at 7 x 5.7 x 8.4 inches.

Support is a weak area for the brand. SafeWise calls it one of AOSU’s weakest points, with sparse online help and most issues needing an email or phone call. Warranty listings also disagree, saying one year at one retailer and two at another.

There is no HomeKit support on the T2 Pro, according to SafeWise, and we found none listed for this model.
